In the last issue, I promised we'd soon be introducing some major improvements in the way we deliver information to Electronic Designers. Here's Tom Halligan, Penton Electronics Group Web Director, to describe one of those key changes.—D.B.

It seems as though only yesterday I was cranking out editorials for Electronic Design as Editor-In-Chief. But, I've been looking forward to the day when I could report what my web staff and I have worked on for all of these months. Well, today is that day, and I'm proud to announce PlanetEE, your new web site.

Notice that I didn't say our new web site. When we conceived the idea to build PlanetEE (www.PlanetEE.com), we were determined to make it your site—a site built specifically for electronics engineers. We think that we've succeeded in bringing to you a content- and feature-rich portal site that will help you do your jobs better—from concept to completion. That's our mission.

With over 50 technical editors and PlanetEE staff, the site's foundation is built on our five leading, stable, technical electronics magazines: Electronic Design, EE Product News, Microwaves & RF, Wireless Systems Design, and Embedded Systems Development. In addition, we have partnered with a number of leading companies in areas of commerce, education, directories, and career services, to offer a wide variety of resources.

Moreover, we've constructed two exclusive directories that empower you to intelligently and quickly search the latest new product announcements. Initially, you will be able to compare among some 63 electronic component lines. Once you've pinpointed the products that you need, you can latch onto data sheets, app notes, and other technical information quickly, efficiently, and most importantly, objectively, from vendors. Our exclusive directories will provide you with the most complete, accurate, and up-to-date vendor-neutral product information from manufacturers.

Plus, we will deliver news and analysis from our worldwide network of editors and correspondents. You will have searchable archives to our magazines, an Ideas For Design library, discussion rooms, career information, and as much information and data from vendors that we can pull together to serve you.

So that you can cut right to the chase, 10 specialized Communities (and more to come) within PlanetEE aggregate content in a number of key technologies: Analog/Mixed-Signal; Communications/Networking; Components & Assemblies; Computing & Information Appliances; Digital ICs & ASICS; Electronic Design Automation; Embedded Systems; Interconnects/Packaging & Materials; Power Control & Supplies; and Test & Measurement. We welcome you to login to www.PlanetEE.com, kick the tires, and let us know what you think about the site. As always, we're here to serve you.
