[Technology In The News] Content Protection Scheme Okayed For WirelessHD
The Digital Transmission Licensing Administrator (DTLA) has approved and published a new supplement to the Digital Transmission Content Protection (DTCP) Specification for the use of WirelessHD. The supplement represents the first approved, standard content protection method for the distribution of HD content. In addition, the approval offers more flexibility for manufacturers and consumers because DTCP permits both streaming and copying of high-definition content device-to-device.

[Designed In] Ford Edge Using Light-Diffusing Compounds From RTP
When Visteon, a global automotive supplier, needed a LED lighting solution for the interior of the Ford Edge crossover SUV, it chose the latest technology from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors that uses RTP Company’s light-diffusing plastic compounds. RTP and OSRAM worked closely together to develop the climate-control lighting in the Edge’s cockpit. The light-diffusing compounds provided an ideal contrast to the vehicle’s metallic finish.

[Technology In The News] Wide-Bandgap Semis Set For Strong Growth
The market for electronic devices based on wide-bandgap semiconductors is poised to grow by 30% or more per year, according to a technology and market report from Strategies Unlimited. The two most important semiconductors will be galium nitride (GaN), mainly for microwave applications, and silicon carbide (SiC), mainly for power supplies and motor controls.
